Established in May 2003 by the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., the Bantay Bata 163 Children's Village serve as a shelter for children who need medium to long-term care and rehabilitation as a result of abuse, neglect, exploitation or abandonment by their parents or guardians, or even due to congenital special needs.
Situated in Norzagaray, Bulacan, the 2.5 hectare compound is now home to more than a hundred children, ranging in age from 3 months to 16 years old.
There are 6 cottages and one administration building. It has its own Kindergarten play school for children 6 years old and below. Its spaces for learning, play and meditation, gardens and pet animals, and organic vegetable and poultry farm create a gentle atmosphere essential to the healing of the child. A portion of the land has been allocated for the future construction of the Asian Institute for the Child, a training institute for child care and development.
PROGRAMS and SERVICES
RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
Living conditions for the children in the Village stimulate the loving and caring environment of a real family.
Taught to treat each other as siblings, the children develop familiar bonds and values through a variety of shared activities.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Provides curative education for children 4 to 6 years old through an in-house kindergarten play school. Older children aged 7-12 are also enrolled in nearby public or private schools. Children with special needs are sent to special schools.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Provides individual health and wellness plans for each child corresponding to their specific health and nutritional needs. Routine and emergency medical services to children combining the use of conventional and alternative medicine are also provided.
